And now dieting

1. Gingersnaps. I make awesome gingersnaps, which stay mysteriously soft no matter how long they’ve been on the counter. Unfortunately, I’ve been making them rather a lot lately, which has caused my incipient awareness that all might not be well in the slender department.

2. Cheesecake Factory. Of course, this realization came during yesterday’s ruinously delightful meal at the Cheesecake Factory, where I did all I could to demolish the Hershey’s Chocolate Bar Cheesecake that my friend and I ordered. Even after eating half a pizza, I was still able to knock out a third of this monster. In retrospect, this isn’t really something I am proud of.

3. Plus, Paris. And in a few short weeks, I’ll be visiting Paris, the most fashionable city in the world. If that isn’t a good reason to put a moratorium on sweets, I don’t know what is.

4. Conclusion. So I will be saying No Thanks to cookies, candies, pastries, and yes, even cheesecakes for the next couple of months or so. And I’m not going to “start on Monday” or “start next month.” Today, this morning, right now. Wish me luck!
