It’s summer in the great country state of Texas, so it’s Hot. My office happens to be the room that is cold in winter and hot in summer, so after noon I’ve taken to sitting with the blinds closed, the light off, and the fan going so that my computer won’t overheat.
Perhaps that’s the source of blame reason for why my word count is less impressive today. This morning I only managed to add another thousand words to THING. The day isn’t over yet, of course, but I usually do my best quickest writing while the sun is still ascending, so when I saw that it was 10:30 and I was still staring at the cursor, I decided to take a longish break.
WORD COUNT: 9,132
In said break, I was not unproductive. I dropped my car off for its overdue oil change, had a pleasant lunch at McAlister’s, and went grocery shopping for breakfasts and lunches. Then I opened my Chapter Two file, scrolled down to the end, winced, and closed it again. I think I’ll read reread The Other Wind by Ursula K. Le Guin until my car is ready to be picked up.
