June 1

1. JuNoWriMo.  It’s like NaNoWriMo, except in June.  And, as you may observe, it begins today.  Do I have something to write?  If something means a nebulous, wavering idea-that-keeps-changing, then yes, I do.  I will shortly open a new file and type “Chapter One,” which, I may tell you, are some of the most terrifying words in existence.

2. You People Are Sick.  And you keep giving it to me.  I started last month sick, and I’ll be starting this month sick, too.  Sore throat.  Congestion.  You know the drill.  The thing I hate most about illness is that it always seems to effect my brain–fuzzy thinking in general and long, embarrassing silences after I know I’ve been asked a question but can’t remember what it was.

3. Lawrence of Arabia.  On the other hand, I finished watching my favorite movie yesterday, and it greatly contributed to my feeling of wellness.  One of my favorite exchanges is when Lawrence, angry at an accusation about his loyalties, spits on the ground, and one of his Bedouin colleagues calmly points out, “That is not an argument.”

4. Onward and Upward.  Now to my novel.  You can expect this month’s posts periodically to include a word count.  Or they might just be a number, all by itself.  I might not be able to spare the words.
