Lately

Lately I’ve been on a YA (young adult) fantasy and sci-fi binge.

  • The Black Unicorn by Tanith Lee.  An amusing enough novella, but guess what?  They were sisters all along.
  • The Truth-Teller’s Tale by Sharon Shinn.  The second in a trilogy, and guess what?  Everyone fell in love after all.  (The first book was better.)
  • The Dream-Maker’s Magic by Sharon Shinn.  The third in a trilogy, and guess what?  Everyone fell in love after all.  (I know, you’d never have guessed, right?)
  • First Meetings in Ender’s Universe by Orson Scott Card.  One of the four stories was good, anyway, although probably because it had Jane in it.  Also includes the original “Ender’s Game” novella.

After I take a break to reread “The Library of Babel” by Jorge Luis Borges this evening (because I could stand a cold, brisk bucket of philosophy to jar me awake), I’m going to tackle The Princess and the Hound by Mette Ivie Harrison.  I will not be lazy anymore.  I will give it a proper review.
